ABOUT  PRAGUE  REGION

The capital of Prague, otherwise known as the Golden City or the city of a Hundred spires, is magical city whose history dates back more than 1,000 years. It offers visitors a beguiling mixture of Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque architecture viewed from 500 towers and steeples. Prague has an unusual concentration of theatres, museums, galleries and concert halls. Here, the creation and reception of art have a longstanding tradition.  No wonder this unique gallery of architectural styles in the streets and gardens of Prague has been added to the UNESCO list of world cultural and natural heritage sites.

Since the 10th century, the favorable strategic location of Czechia in the heart of Europe called not only for fruitful cultural exchanges, but also for the necessity of repelling the military threats by creating an unusually dense network of castles. Perched on rocks and hills, or situated amid expanses of water, these 111 noble residences preserved extraordinary massive art and historic collections that are open to public.  The world-renowned spa resorts from the 14th century, abounding in both hot and cold springs of curative mineral water hosted a number of prominent personalities, including Goethe, Schiller, Chopin, Beethoven, Wagner, and Chateaubriand. Today, visitors stroll in the beautiful colonnades rich in architectural heritage and listen to promenade concerts.  Unforgettable impressions are made by picturesque parks, woods and singing fountains.
